When a school operates across multiple campuses, consistency becomes a design challenge of its own.

The furniture needs to look the same, perform the same and meet the same standards — whether a student is sitting in a classroom in one city or another.

That was the brief for Shiv Nadar Schools.

Popcorn Furniture worked across the Shiv Nadar Schools network to create and implement a consistent furniture standard across campuses, bringing together ergonomics, flexibility, durability and a cohesive visual language.

The objective was not simply to furnish classrooms.

It was to create a furniture system that could scale with the institution.

The Brief

One Furniture Standard Across Every Campus

Shiv Nadar Schools needed a furniture solution that could support the changing requirements of a progressive K–12 learning environment.

Classrooms had to accommodate different teaching formats — from focused individual learning and lecture-style teaching to group work and examinations.

At the same time, the furniture needed to be durable enough for intensive institutional use and consistent enough to be replicated across campuses.

What They Needed

A standardised furniture system across multiple campuses

Flexible desks that could adapt to different classroom layouts

Lightweight, stackable chairs that could be moved easily

Ergonomic furniture for long classroom hours

Consistent quality, finish and safety standards

A solution that could be manufactured and installed at scale

The Solution

A Repeatable Furniture System Built for Scale

Popcorn developed a tablet-arm desk and chair system designed around the everyday realities of a modern school.

The foldable-arm desks allow classrooms to shift between different configurations, while stackable chairs make it easier to clear, reorganise or repurpose a room when required.

The furniture was manufactured centrally to a common specification and then rolled out across campuses, ensuring that the same design intent and quality standards were maintained throughout.

The result was a system that could be replicated without becoming repetitive.

Spaces We Furnished

Senior-School Classrooms

Flexible tablet-arm desks and stackable chairs create individual workstations while allowing teachers to quickly change the classroom arrangement for different teaching formats.

Examination Spaces

Furniture layouts can be adapted for examination requirements, creating clearly spaced and organised seating arrangements when the room needs to shift from everyday teaching to assessments.

Group Activity Rooms

Reconfigurable furniture allows desks to be clustered and separated depending on the activity — supporting collaboration, discussion and project-based learning.

Staff & Administrative Areas

Workstations and storage solutions extend the same attention to functionality and durability beyond the student learning spaces.

Designed for Flexibility

A classroom rarely has one fixed purpose anymore.

A room might begin the day with individual learning, move into a group discussion, become a collaborative project space and later need to accommodate an examination.

The furniture therefore needed to move with the pedagogy.

Fold.
Stack.
Rearrange.
Reconfigure.

The system gives schools the flexibility to change the room without changing the room itself.

Consistency at Scale

One of the biggest challenges in a multi-campus project is maintaining consistency.

Popcorn's approach began with a defined furniture specification and continued through site surveys, centralised manufacturing and phased installation.

Each campus was surveyed and planned individually, while the furniture itself followed the same approved design and quality standard.

This meant that every classroom could maintain the same look, feel and performance, regardless of location.

From One Campus to a Network

The Shiv Nadar Schools project demonstrates what happens when school furniture is treated as a system rather than a collection of products.

A standardised design language makes it possible to scale across campuses without compromising functionality or quality.

For students,that creates familiarity.

For teachers,it creates consistency.

For the institution,it creates a furniture standard that can grow with the school network.

The Result

A multi-campus furniture rollout designed around one simple principle:

Every classroom should feel like part of the same institution.

From senior-school classrooms and examination spaces to group activity rooms and administrative areas, Popcorn Furniture created a consistent, flexible and durable furniture ecosystem designed to work across the Shiv Nadar Schools network.
